Following the suggestions of manufacturers and suppliers to simplify Resolution No. 197/2004, the Argentine authorities have finally now decided on modification. A new Resolution, No. 109/2005, was published on July 6, 2005 in the Argentina official bulletin, which modifies Resolution No. 197/2004 with regards to marking requirements for certified products under the current certification regimes in Argentina. Products affected include electrical and electronic products, toys, steel for construction, etc. The modifications introduced in this new Resolution 109/2005 are as follow: ¡¤The mandatory requirement to exhibit the certificate number next to the safety symbol, i.e, Lot Approval logo, Type Approval logo, or "S-mark" logo, has been eliminated, making such display optional. ¡¤It is now mandatory for safety symbols to be exhibited in a visible and indelible way on each product involved, at the time of commercialization in the market. ¡¤Only when the dimensions of a product do not allow, or when the limited size of a product makes the reading of symbol identification impossible, may symbols be exhibited on the packaging, wrapper, or labels. If any further information is needed, please contact our International Approval Services group. |
